Be well prepared for your trip and read the luggage rules of your airline before departure. The rules may differ per airline. The luggage is divided into two types: hand luggage and checked luggage.
You take hand luggage with you on the plane and keep it with you during the flight. Hand luggage must meet certain dimensions so that it fits in the overhead luggage compartment or under the seat on the plane.
You can hand in checked luggage at the check-in desks at the airport. The luggage is then loaded into the hold of the aircraft by the handler.

Checked luggage rules
Security allows almost anything in your checked luggage unless it is on the list of dangerous objects. If you are unsure whether you can take a particular item with you in your checked suitcase, please contact us.
Since the 3rd of April 2024 Transavia changed their cabine bagage policy. The most important change is that from the date stated, you have to pay extra to take your cabine bagage with you on board of the plane. For more information, go to the Transavia website.
If you wish to pass quickly through the security check, check out our tips!
- Wear thin clothing and low shoes. For example, think of sweatpants, leggings with a matching top or thin jeans with a nice shirt. If you do want to take a coat or jacket on the plane, take it off before you go through security.
- Choose low shoes that do not rise above your ankle, such as sneakers, sports shoes and slip-ons. This will allow you to go through the scan. If you do want to bring high shoes (above the ankle), boots or heavy walking shoes, we advise you to put them in your suitcase, or make sure that you can easily take them off and put them on again.
- Empty the pockets of your trousers, coat, cardigan or jacket and put everything in the baggage bin with your hand luggage. Your pockets must be completely empty before you go through the scan (the gate) yourself, so also remove your handkerchief or other small items from your pockets.
- Limit the amount of liquids, gels and aerosols you take in your hand luggage. If these items come in a container of up to 100 ml, pack them in such a way that they are easily within reach.
- Packages of more than 100 ml are only allowed on board if they are approved by the hand luggage scan and the security officer at the security check. Note: From September 1, 2024, it will no longer be permitted to carry liquids in containers larger than 100 ml in hand luggage.
- Due to the use of the latest security equipment at our airport, you may leave the liquids, gels and aerosols in your hand luggage. This also applies to your laptop, tablet and other electronics.
- Jewelery may be worn when you go through the security check. You can also put your phone, watch, jewellery, belt and other items in your hand luggage in advance.
- Have your boarding pass at hand when you get to the security check. Once your boarding pass has been checked, you can store it in your hand luggage.
- We kindly ask you to take off your coat, cardigan, jacket and shoes (except sneakers and plastic flip flops) and put them in a baggage bin.
- If your hand luggage and personal items remain behind the plexiglass on the conveyor belt, this means that your luggage has been selected for an additional examination. At busy times it can take a while before your belongings are examined and you get them back.
- If your belongings do not contain any suspicious objects, you will immediately receive them back on the conveyor belt and you can immediately accept them without the intervention of an employee.
- Always follow instructions from the security staff.
